An American Tragedy

The horrific events of last Monday haunt me. My heart goes out to the families of the Virginia Tech students.

Tuesday night, the students here held a candlelight vigil for the lost ones. The J came home after midnight and knocked on our bedroom door--to hug us and tell us he loved us.

I just ache for the mothers whose kids won't be coming home again.

And I am so grateful for each moment I have with the ones I love...

Christine,

I so agree! Horrific tragedy. We avoided a similar event here in Lincoln in the early 90's--a young man walked into a Chemistry 101 lecture with a rifle--thank God--the rifle jammed.

Things like this--the OKC bombing and the events of 9/11 are so fresh and real. Very much a time to hug the ones you love.

Sounds like your J has great depth of feeling. Such a great quality.

Best,

Husker Kim

Aw, Kim. You're the best--and I do love that J is one of those outgoing, affectionate types. Friends and relatives are always pleasantly surprised at how willing he is to give a hug and stop and chat...

And wow. What a wonderful thing--a rifle jammed!

The J is a sweetie! Give him a big hug for me LOL

It's so hard to let them go to school anyway--college is the big world then to have something like this happen.

Yes those moments are so wonderful we need to be thankful, don't we?

Barb, you are so right. It's just so easy to take the most important things for granted.
